How to prepare a ski touring trip
The advanced ski mountaineering course is designed to teach you how to plan a multi-day crossing on skis, to know how to move on more complex and sometimes steeper terrain, to navigate with a map and compass as well as with GPS. The notions of safety and self-rescue on avalanche-prone terrain will be a priority. The goal is to give you a base that allows you to carry out a medium-high difficulty ski mountaineering activity safely.
It is essential to have a good descent technique in parallel skis on black slopes. (for those who already have ski mountaineering experience or are coming from the first part of the course).
